I have enjoyed speaking to groups of all ages this year, and events are presently popping up like popcorn. My writing is a never-ending passion. When I retired from teaching High School English in May 2005, little did I dream I would be so busy with a second and third career - and so happy. My first two books, Humorous Happenings in Holy Places and, And the Angels Laughed, proved to be successful. I then followed them with writing chapters for two other compilations - Whispering in God's Ear and 101 Ways to Improve Your Life-Vol. 3.
As for my present writing endeavors, I have completed my first novel (unpublished at this point) and am working on a third humorous devotional book. I also am writing for two monthly periodicals - Anniston/Gadsden Family Christian Magazine and Sand Mountain Living.
God has a way of surprising us with unexpected blessings when we commit what we do to him. My first book launched a speaking career for me which is my delight. Who would ever have believed I would speak at 75 -80 events a year? I do. This year I've spoken to senior adult groups, ladies'events, civic groups, retreats, and even to young school children. If I can bring joy and inspiration to any group, any size, anytime, I feel my efforts are successful. God has blessed me greatly; the least I can do is to try to be a blessing to those around me. If you are planning a banquet, meeting, retreat, or an event of any kind and need a Christian humorist to speak - call soon - my calendar is filling up fast, especially around holidays.
