I know the bible teaches, "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord," and I trust scammers will be the object of God's vengeance, especially ones who pose as His ministers.

I have always heard, "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is."
These words echoed in my psyche when I recently received  an unbelievable invitation to speak in England - all travel and lodging covered, as well as a very large honorarium.    I'll admit it brought a bit of excitment and flattery, but several red flags boomed as I read the contract and emails.  1. The only thing the people concerned knew about me was what they had seen on my web site.  2. A church with less than a 100 members ( I checked out their web site) was hosting this large conference. 3.  Supposedly, it was for a youth conference - ages 18-55 ??? 4. When I decided to talk with the inviter first hand and called, the guy could hardly speak English; he was a Kenyan.  I was aware of several scams generated out of Kenya, but this one was different.  The only thing asked of me was to follow a provided link to fill out an application for a work permit which I didn't do. I prayed God would direct me in this matter.

God's quiet holy nudging propelled me into investigating this matter more completely before I gave out any information.  I asked my representative at ISN (International Speakers' Network) to check it out.  At the same time, I sent an email to the London Baptist Conference to see what information they might have about the invitation.  ISN found through the following web site that it was a scam: http://publicwords.typepad.com/nickmorgan/2010/06/a-speaker-scam.html
Then I received a reply to my email to the London Baptist Conference saying I should ignore the invitation.  Thankfully through prayer and research I avoided a scam where I would have been asked for info which would have resulted in the perpetrator getting my bank account.

I pray that this person and others who do evil in the name of our Lord will have an awakening, an epiphany, wherein they will come to a true knowledge of His saving grace.
